TBI Warrior Foundation Founders Tell Their Story.

Welcome to A BATTLE WITHIN, Episode 47

Today on A BATTLE WITHIN, we offer the conversation we had with Sgt. Victor Medina and Dr. Roxana Delgado of the TBI Warrior Foundation out of San Antonio, Texas. It truly was an honor to have them on the program.

If you been listening up until this point, you know we have brought up the fact that many of our soldiers are fighting in the arena of Traumatic Brain Injuries as well. Head injuries have become the notable injury of war during our conflicts in the Middle East.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, as of this recording, over 350,000 of our warriors have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury in these conflicts. These injuries also lead to an array of additional concerns such as PTSD and depression.

A little more than 10 years ago, Sergeant Victor Medina became one of those soldiers. While serving his country with his third tour in Iraq. The Purple Heart recipients life was changed forever one day in June.

Victor sustained a moderate Traumatic Brain Injury.

It must be said- that when a trauma like this occurs, it affects many people and the ripple affect of that is real and far reaching. This is where Dr. Roxana Delgado, Victors wife comes in. Not only is she thrust into the role of Caregiver but as time progresses she finds ways to help others.

What makes this particular story special is that Victor and Roxana are doing some incredible things to help other veterans, their caregivers, their children and anybody else who needs it with their own recoveries through the TBI Warrior Foundation they founded together.

We spend time learning about the fantastic foundation and much of the amazing work and services it provides.
